You need to be in control and force the enemy into a position that is an advantage to you. It's something you wont be able to get an advantage from, however it is very important to get down, that's correct.ĭon't count on enemy mistakes in either of those categories. Knowing the "flow" and what to tech for is also something you can expect people to be good at. You cannot effectively harrass the enemy without knowing what positions you can utilize and how. The rest you describe builds on this map knowledge. I am returning after more than 1.5 years to this game and am winning half the 1v1's I play with factions I never played before on maps I don't know/don't remember. Lastly, in 3v3/4v4, you often have great no of units and tanks roaming the map after the first 7-8 minutes but in 1v1 the encounters you have will be much smaller most of the time and your micro with individual units will often be the decider. Another very important thing is to know when to tech and reacting to your opponent's teching. Its more about knowing how the flow of the match and learning how to harras the enemy (MUST in 1v1 because resources are more important because they are scarcer) and taking advantage of what he's doing wrong IMO. I personally feel that knowing the maps isn't the most important thing at all.
